Premier Padel Weekly Recap: Valencia P1 & Italy Major — June 15, 2026

Premier Padel Weekly Recap: Valencia P1 & Italy Major — June 15, 2026

What a fortnight it’s been on the Premier Padel circuit. Two back-to-back events — the BNL Italy Major in Rome and the Valencia P1 at La Fonteta — served up some of the most dramatic padel of the season. Here’s everything that went down.

🏆 Tournament Results

BNL Italy Major — Rome, Italy (June 1–7)

The season’s first Major played out at the iconic Foro Italico in front of over 9,000 fans, and the world number ones delivered exactly the kind of padel that made them number ones in the first place.

Men’s Final: Arturo Coello & Agustín Tapia def. Alejandro Galán & Federico Chingotto 7–5, 7–6

Women’s Final: Delfina Brea & Gemma Triay def. Ariana Sánchez & Andrea Ustero 6–1, 7–5

On the men’s side, Coello and Tapia exacted revenge on “Chingalán,” who had won four consecutive head-to-heads. The key moment came at 5-5 in the first set, where the number ones broke to take a 7-5 opener. The second set went to a tiebreak and a volley error from Galán at 5-4 sealed it. Coello summed it up: “It’s a special victory. Rome is a very important stop and we’re very happy with this title.”

In the women’s draw, Brea and Triay were far too clinical after surviving the week’s most brutal test — a gruelling 4-hour 12-minute semi-final that Sánchez and Ustero had won. The defending champions came out firing in the final, taking the first set 6-1 and closing out the second 7-5 after Sánchez/Ustero briefly threatened a comeback at 5-4.

Valencia P1 — Valencia, Spain (June 8–14)

Straight from Rome to La Fonteta, and the circuit delivered an instant classic.

Men’s Final: Arturo Coello & Agustín Tapia def. Alejandro Galán & Federico Chingotto 7–6, 1–6, 7–6

Women’s Final: Ariana Sánchez & Andrea Ustero def. Claudia Fernández & Sofia Araújo 6–4, 3–6, 6–2

The men’s final will be talked about for years. Galán and Chingotto looked to have it won at 5-3 in the third set, but Coello and Tapia broke back, forced a tiebreak — and then, trailing 1-5, won six straight points to take the match. Jaw-dropping mental fortitude from the number ones.

On the women’s side, Sánchez and Ustero bounced back brilliantly from their Italy Major final defeat to claim their second title of the season. Their opponents, Claudia Fernández and Sofia Araújo, were impressive to reach their first ever final as a pair, but couldn’t hold their nerve in the decider. Sánchez and Ustero are clearly the pair in form right now.

✨ Highlights of the Week

  • Record-breaking semi-final in Rome: The Italy Major women’s semi-final between Sánchez/Ustero and González/Josemaría lasted 4 hours and 12 minutes — the longest match in Premier Padel history.
  • Historic Italian moment: Giulia Dal Pozzo became the first Italian player ever to reach a Premier Padel Major semi-final, delighting the home crowd at the Foro Italico.
  • Coello & Tapia’s iron nerve in Valencia: Coming back from 1-5 in the third-set tiebreak to win a P1 title is one of the most remarkable moments of this season. Tapia noted they were playing their 23rd consecutive final — a quite astonishing run of consistency.
  • Sánchez & Ustero’s rise: Two titles in two weeks from the same pair (they won Rome’s semi and Valencia’s final). They’re fast becoming the biggest challengers to the Brea/Triay dominance.
