Premier Padel Weekly Recap: Alpine Paris Major — September 28, 2026
Padel’s biggest names went head to head under the roof at Roland-Garros this month, and the fallout is still shaping the rankings two weeks later. Here’s your catch-up on the Alpine Paris Major, the latest FIP title in Lyon, where the world rankings stand, and what’s on court right now in Rotterdam.
Tournament Results: Alpine Paris Major
The Alpine Paris Major was played from September 7–13, 2026 on the Philippe Chatrier court at Roland-Garros, and once again it was the world’s top-ranked pair lifting the trophy.
In the men’s final, Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello survived a rollercoaster three-setter against Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto, winning 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(1). Tapia and Coello raced through the opener, dropped the second set, then had to dig out of a 5-2 hole in the third before closing it out in a tiebreak — their fourth title together this season.
The women’s final was a much more one-sided affair: Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero dismantled Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo 6-2, 6-0 in just over an hour, winning 71% of their break points while conceding almost nothing on serve. Sánchez called it close to “perfection” afterwards, and the stats back her up — the pair won 64% of total points played.
Highlights
Beyond the Major, the FIP Platinum event in Lyon (September 21–27) had a storyline of its own. Days after being left off Spain’s World Championship roster, Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero answered in the most direct way possible — beating Jon Sanz, the man who took their spot, and his partner Franco Stupaczuk in the final, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, after dropping the opening set. On the women’s side, Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga went through the whole draw in Lyon without dropping a set, beating Martina Fassio and Águeda Pérez 6-1, 6-3 for Goenaga’s first FIP Platinum title.

The Cupra Rotterdam Premier Padel P2 is live right now (September 27–October 4) in the Netherlands, with Coello and Tapia in as top seeds and Triay and Brea leading the women’s draw — both sets of top seeds wait until Thursday to make their first appearance.
